Actors
Actors recognized for conduct, not performances
Performers occupy an unusual position of influence. Their choices about how to treat crews and co-workers, how to speak when speaking is costly, and how to handle wealth and fame shape expectations far beyond their own industry. We look past the roles to the record.
Recognized actors
No actors have been published yet. Candidates are researched and reviewed before anything appears here, and no one is recognized for achievement alone. If you know of documented conduct that meets our standard, nominate them.
Category considerations
How we evaluate actors
Treatment of colleagues and crew
On-the-record accounts from named co-workers, crew members, and collaborators carry weight. Reputation alone does not: a pleasant public image is not evidence, and we do not rely on anonymous praise or anonymous accusation.
Honesty in representation
Truthfulness about one's own history, work, and causes, including correcting the record when wrong. A public correction or apology made at personal cost is itself evidence of character.
Charitable leadership versus charitable giving
Donations are easy to publicize and hard to assess. We weigh sustained, hands-on commitment, personal sacrifice, and leadership over headline amounts, and we distinguish a person's own work from the work of foundations that bear their name.
Moral courage in the industry
Speaking up about abuse or exploitation, refusing to participate in dishonest conduct, or accepting professional consequences for a principled stand. We record what was done and what it cost.
Private conduct
Private relationships matter, but we do not speculate about them. We consider only what is publicly documented, and we never treat rumors, tabloid reporting, or unverified allegations as fact.
Accountability
Nobody's record is perfect. When a person has acknowledged a mistake, made amends, and changed course, we say so. Growth is part of character.
A positive public reputation does not establish eligibility, and a famous name does not shortcut the review. Every actor listed here has at least one independently documented example of ethical conduct with sources you can read.
Nominate someone
Know someone whose actions speak for them?
Anyone can nominate a living actor, athlete, or astronaut. Nominations are private, reviewed by people, and judged on documented conduct rather than popularity.
